Min: Russia’s grain output grows by 30 mln tns over last 10 years
MOSCOW, Aug 23 (PRIME) -- Russia has increased grain output by one third, or around 30 million tonnes, over the last 10 years, Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachyov said on Tuesday.
“Grain production in Russia increased by one third over the last 10 years. In absolute figures, this is around 30 million tonnes, which is comparable with annual volume of Russian grain exports,” he said.
Russia exported almost 34 million tonnes of grain, including 24.6 million tonnes of wheat, in the 2015–2016 agricultural year, Tkachyov said.
“We have become the world’s leaders in terms of wheat exports leaving behind Canada and the U.S.,” he said.
Under preliminary estimates, this year’s harvest will amount to around 110 million tonnes of grain, Tkachyov said.
